A new search engine concept
AnooX is a different kind of search engine. The management claims that they are better than Google and Yahoo because user’s searches are first by computers, and then rated on relevance by other human users. What makes them really different though, is that they’ve recently announced that they are a not-for profit organization. This has some very interesting implications:
- AnooX will only be a search engine. This means they can concentrate on only one thing, search, unlike Google, Yahoo, MSN, who are involved in different businesses and always thinking about what others to get into.
- If AnooX does have any profits, they will give the profit away to AnooX community members, and to other non-profits working for public interest causes.
- AnooX will minimize pay-per-click advertising rates.
My biggest concern about the rating feature was that people would game it and choose their own companies results as the best ones. Obviously that was a huge concern of AnooX too: to become a voting member you need to sign up and authenticate your identity. Authenticating your identity can be done either by making a $5.00 (refundable in 60 days) donation with a CreditCard, or by mailing in a Notarized copy of your ID.
So after you’ve tried AnooX, login to BuzzShout and review it. Tell us all if it really is better than Google and Yahoo.

I love AnooX.
Finally a search engine that we can trust, both as search engine users and as Advertisers.
As search engine user I love it because we can affect the search results in real time based on the knowledge of the people, by simply voting for listing we think should be ranked higher.
As search engine Advertiser I am sick & tired of being ripped off by Advertising on Google & Yahoo that 1st does not convert, 2nd it is VERY expensive & 3rd is backed with horrible to no customer service.
So my Hat off to Anoox
About time we had a real choice to monopoly of Google & Yahoo.

I agree. I think Anoox is the best search engine idea i have seen since google & yahoo
hegemony of the search (aka information online).
I am using them and Advertising on Anoox and I urge all do the same too.
Because Anoox is a search engine powered by YOU and me, which is much better
and fairer than search engines which are powered by machines via mysterious
algorithms which we the people cannot affect.
Simply put I urge all to use Anoox because it represents information democracy
and as we all know, democracy is much better than either few people or
machines deciding.

Good afternoon, A very good post, I must say this is really well thought out, this place definitely needs posters like you. Filling the place with some good tips and information, I did follow A couple of your posts, they been relevant and nice points were elaborated. I must say we should always be willing to post in our best knowledge to aid people. Really love this post.
